Thank you very much for your patronage of Komasa Jyozo Co., Ltd. I am Yoshitsugu Komasa, and as of August 28, 2018, I am the newly-appointed Representative Director and President of Komasa Jyozo Co., Ltd.
Komasa Jyozo was established in Kagoshima in 1883 by Ichisuke Komasa, and since then has been focused on producing and selling our honkaku shochu brand 「Kozuru」. Second-generation President Kanosuke Komasa sold the first barrel-aged shochu in Japan, 「Mellow Kozuru」 and third-generation President Yoshifumi Komasa continued to pursue new challenges by following the motto “Making shochu that shows the face of the producer” to deliver safe, reliable, and impressive honkaku shochu to not only Kagoshima, but to spread it to the entire country and the world. So far, we have developed a wide range of products to offer our customers that are centered around 「Kozuru」,「Kozuru Kuro」,「Kozuru Kikoji」, and「Mellow Kozuru」, as well as 「Kuranoshikon」, the 「Saru (“Monkey”)」series that includes 「Akazaru」and 「Kizaru」, and shochu-based liqueurs such as 「Komasa no Umeshu」.
Komasa Jyozo is proud to celebrate our 135th anniversary in 2018. This is truly thanks to our customers continuing to choose and enjoy drinking our products. Having started whisky operations at Kanosuke Distillery in November 2017, we released our first spirit, 「KOMASA GIN」, in July 2018, and have continued progressing to new stages by making full use of our carefully cultivated honkaku shochu manufacturing skills. This is indeed a “new foundation.”
